one of the events leading up to the world basketball festival was the make something! workshop, where children from the local communities were given a chance to participate in art workshops and try their hand at designing some custom kicks.

one of the creations that came out of this event was the ultimate brand mash-up: a nike x jordan brand x converse hybrid model. taking some cues from the hyperdunk 2010, you can see the jordan influence in the form of a jumpman logo on the top strap, with a little converse hit on the back heel.

got a healthy p-rod update for all the sb heads out there. for those of you in ny, paul will be at rucker park to celebrate the launch of his 4th signature shoe along with a gang of other nikesb athletes, including eric koston.

the event is from 4-6pm today, august 17th. down below, peep a couple short films that showcase paul talking about the inspiration behind the p-rod 4, skating in nyc, and his apprecation for mr. jones. at the end, check out the newest commercial featuring a voiceover by nas.

NDP: What’s the theme of the pattern?
Goto: It’s a wood grain pattern inspired by ranches and all of the buildings throughout Texas and in Dallas. The creative direction behind the graphics is Benny Montoya from Apparel, and in Basketball, Michael Spoljaric helped out with direction. We came up with the whole Texas western theme, and then that continues with the sockliner with the patches. On the wood grain, you’ll actually see some stars integrated into the pattern, which is a cool, subtle hit towards All-Star.
Rogers: All of the graphic hits on the panels are 3M, too.

NDP: And the insole-stitched patch—is that specific to each Conference or each player?
Goto: For all of the Western Conference ones, it has a pattern of stars that represent the number of times that the Western All Stars have won the game. For the East and West there’s a different type base for the way they’re written.
Rogers: Erick also wanted the patch to look like it was branded, like a cow.
Goto: Everything on the outside looks super modern, and then on the inside you have a nice little touch of Dallas.

NDP: The laces are all waxed?
Goto: Yeah, the laces are all waxed, and even the material of the laces, like on the Hyperize, it’s got that rubbery finish, and we thought that was a cool, new material that we haven’t used yet.

spotted over at Hypebeast, here’s a look at some blazers coming out of nike sportswear representing the spring 2010 line. black upper with accents of blue on the tongue and also right above the all white midsole. check for these at your local nike sportswear retailer.

with suede instead of nubuck on the upper and varsity red in place of the infrared, don’t get salty that these aren’t true to the original since they aren’t being marketed as such. if you’re fiending for those ones, jordan brand may have something up their sleeve for later this year…
