The special – set to air in March – is a little ign’ant peculiar, to say the least. First of all, it seems to incorporate an element from Charles Dickens’s, A Christmas Carol. T-Pain will star as a sort of “Ghost of Freaknik Past,” who revives the fest and brings it back to Atlanta. In an even wackier move, Lil’ Wayne is slated to play Jesus Christ and rumor has it that he will be performing a parody song entitled ‘Ghetto Commandments.’
The Splinters are an all girl garage pop band from Oakland, CA and they’ve got a shit load of moxie! If you’re attending SXSW be sure to rock with these ladies at one of their four scheduled shows between the 17th and 20th. This week has somehow turned out to be DOPE ASS hip hop week… Midnight Vibes is the latest full length effort from California MC SLik d and it’s a MUST DOWNLOAD at it’s retail price $free. SLik has a delivery and sound reminiscent of hip hop soul legend Q-Tip, but the comparison is short lived as Midnight Vibes proves itself to be the work of an original. Breakbeats chopped between tinges of jazz infused, electro melodies lay the backbone for SLik d’s smooth and sometimes crooning delivery. From start to finish you will find yourself rapping along with and humming to this album. Very, very sweet dude. Check it:

The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The “machine” was designed and built by the band, along with members of Synn Labs over the course of several months.
