La Blogotheque has captured a great acoustic set by Vampire Weekend that takes place in France. I can’t tell you much background information, because I don’t speak French, but it’s both intimate and energetic – a great set – and the French seem to be really into it. The full set is 23 minutes, and features new stuff, old stuff, and a cover. Who knew Ezra could speak French so well?

Vampire Weekend – New Music – More Music Videos

To beat a dead horse with a stick, blog about everyone’s favorite indie band Vampire Weekend. Recently said favorite indie band was featured in an entire episode of MTV Unplugged, which was awesome (watch the whole thing here)! Lets distinguish something in an honest manner shall we. XL is certainly a so-called independent record label. As far as I can tell they are not owned by any major label or GE, Time Warner, Viacom, etc. But, I scarcely believe there is a difference between a successful major label act and Vampire Weekend. Indie, in this case (and as we all should know) represents a musical aesthetic, a consumer fan base (which happens to catch things of awesome nature prior to the masses), but most of it’s a marketing ploy. Lets be honest there not much that’s indie about Vampire Weekend; it’s much more to do with branding than anything else. Nonetheless they are everyone’s favorite indie band for a reason. Dope!
